10.00am - 12.00

21st May 2011

Priory Place

“Masonry – its music”

Bro Andrew Taylor will give a talk on ‘Music in Masonry’ with musical illustrations. Bro Andrew is a well known and respected musician who has played for most lodges in the area at one time or another. He will demonstrate the tunes and melodies used in our ceremonies and explain their significance to our ritual.

“Harry Priestley House”

WBro Keith Marriott is secretary of the ‘Friends of Harry Priestley House’. This is a local Masonic charity in Thorne which provides sheltered housing for a number of children and relatives of Freemasons who have special needs. It was established several years ago by Doncaster Masons who continue to support its many activities. This is a chance to know more about this worthy cause.

“Who are they?”

The Academy Co-ordinator, WBro Russ Jones, will explain ‘who is who’ in the lodge, and why some aprons are dark blue with gold cord whist others have a fringe.  What is the significance of the round badges on these aprons and what are the ‘collar’ jewels? Who sit where and why? Where can a new mason sit? These and many more questions will be asked .... and answered.
